Hippner Romanillos Guitar German Spruce/East Indian Rosewood

by Andy
(Seattle)

Large body/Volume guitar. This guitar has incredible volume for a traditional design. Built in 97. Appears to have a thin laquer polish which does not impede the vibration of the wood any more than french polish. One finish scratch on on the upper bout near the waist of the guitar. No cracks. Shipping is $75. I will only sell and ship to Continental US address. $1399

I have a son who is playing classical guitar in a fine arts academy in Austin, TX. He wants to continue in college. Would this be an appropriate "step up"?

hippner guitar available
by: Andy

Yes it is available. Yes it would be a step up for a student - depends on what they are playing- it sounds much better than a student guitar.

One Amazing Guitar
by: D. Baker

I have one that is a short scale (and cost WAY more than the other one shown here; it's more recently, so presumably better, as Mr. Hippner would have been pretty young in 1997).

An astonishing instrument--I'm sure a "real" Romanillos would be better, but I seriously doubt it would be 40 thousand dollars (or so) better. Definitely has "that sound" going on--weird, delayed attack; notes BLOOM.

Not sure if it's a standard model, but I think with Brazilian these go now for around 4 grand, something like that--that's a lot, sure, but this guitar is absolutely in that league. If you ever get the chance to try one, do--blow your mind.
