1970 Alvarez Acoustic - Dove Model#5024

This is a 1970-71 Alvarez 5024 Dove in very good condition. Mahogany back and sides (stained cherry) with a spruce top make this guitar sound like a $1,000+ guitar. Mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with twinparallelogram inlays plays great with very smooth and easy action. Weightis 4 lbs. 12 oz. Nut width is 1 3/4'', Scale is 25 1/8''.

Alvarez made this guitar as a copy of the Gibson Dove and consequently, were sued by Gibson so they had to change the model. This makes this model a collectors piece. A recent mint 5024 went for $755 here on eBay.

I am the original owner and have never found a better sounding guitar for under $1500. It also has a great playing neck which make it easy to play and pick.

Also comes with the original warranty card and also the original case.

1970's Alvarez 5024
by: Barry

I had this guitar in the early 1980's here in California then moved to Texas later in early 90's I sold it for like $300 or so, that was what I paid for it so I was ok with all those years of playing it free...anyways I had a USA Guild after that with a bit of time without a guitar in between & recently decided my old Alvarez sounded better it was louder than my US Guild and sweeter sounding to. I was poking arround on the net and found another one just like mine it had a couple of improvements over mine this one has the tuneamatic bridge routed right into the wood bridge and it intonates now on the money even sweeter.. this one had been upgraded with old grover tuners and had the pickguard actually has the dove in the guard is mother of pearl inlayed into the guard mine was not this nice I had not seen this nice of one..it plays as good as a vintage Gibson to my ears... lovin it..the shop I found this one was great they had several different models of the same model 5024 at that time anyway that was jvguitars.com he has some nice old vintage Alvarez guitars and some Yairi's I got a J200 style 5055 from them a year after. They were not the cheapest but the quality was worth getting a guitar well represented honestly assessed and great service. It worked out great I'm happy I got my old 5024 back.

My Alvarez
by: Jean

I have an Alvarez like this. The print is no longer on the finger plate but the impression shows. The top has damage but plays beautifully. I had tried to find info on this guitar so was delighted to finally find this site

by: Eric

I've got this same model # 5024 with a serial # of 00032. My dad bought it for my mom in the very early 70's new and has NEVER been played. Is this the 32nd ever made? Any other thoughts?
